REMEMBERING BOB UECKER

by: ISMAEL NUNEZ

Robert George Uecker, the world remembers his as Bob Uecker, passed away on January 16, 2025. He was an American professional baseball catcher and sportscaster who served as the play-by-play announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB) for 54 seasons. He was also an occasional television and film actor. Remember him in those Lite Beer Commercials! He was so great, to add a charming person, from what one can see.

They called him “Mr Baseball” yet in reality he was Mr Human Being. He always had a smile for everyone, always happy doing his job. Along with hall of famer Vin Scully, he had a  beautiful voice for the fans in Milwaukee. Simply put, he was the  Brewers.  In an article by YAHOO SPORTS JR Radcliffe of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said Mayor Cavalier Johnson made this proud statement “Bob could find humor is almost anything – his playing career, his friendships, and even his near-deadly spider bite. His game broadcasts were always entertaining – even when the Brewers were losing badly.”

“Bob Uecker loved baseball, the Brewers, and Milwaukee, and it’s hard to imagine the coming season without him.”

A female baseball fan, Jen Lada, on Yahoo Sports stated “I never took a single conversation I had with Bob Uecker for granted. He greeted everyone with a smile & a twinkle in his eye. A natural storyteller – his ability to weave a tale, delight and entertain was unmatched.”

Aaron Nagler on YAHOO SPORTS commented, “Bob Uecker’s voice single-handedly got me back into baseball after discovering the MLB app and having his calls suddenly back in my daily summer routine.”

Uecker if it’s Three you are Blessed. It shows to many you are MR BASEBALL! GOD BLESS YOU REST IN PEACE!
