On September 9, 2023 at Yankee Stadium Old Timers Day Mrs. Diana Munson was presented by Gabriel "Tito" Avila, Jr. Founder President and CEO of the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame the International Award. The award was for her husband the late Thurman Lee Munson former Captain of New York Yankees Catcher for 11 years who died in a plan crash on August 3, 1979 at the Akron Canton airport Canton,Ohio. The award was Mr. Munsons participation in the Puerto Rican Winter League during the 1969-1970 seasons. At the presentation of the award Mrs. Munson stated that at our request we could rename the award in Mr. Munson's name in the future.
