THE DODGERS REPEAT AS WORLD CHAMPIONS IN 2025
BY ISMAEL NUNEZ
The Dodgers win! As the great broadcaster and Hall of Famer Vin Scully would say “The Los Angeles Dodgers have won the 2025 World Series!” They join two other teams, the New York Giants who won back to back World Series in 1921, 1922, and the Cincinnati Reds who won back to back in 1975, 1976. In the last two games the Dodgers won game 6 3-1 and in extra innings they would win game 7 with a game winning home run by catcher Will Smith winning it 5-4.

The 2025 World Series went 7 games, which is pretty rare. To add, the Dodgers won the last two at the opposing teams ballpark, also pretty rare. Yet for the World Series to go 7 games the Toronto Blue Jays put up a good fight. Hey Toronto be happy, the Blue Jays finished last in 2024 and went to the World Series the next year. Even though they came up short, they made all of Canada proud and happy.
Pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto was named World Series MVP for the Los Angeles Dodgers. It was so well deserved. Yamamoto finished with an outstanding performance winning games, 2, 6, and 7. To add he allowed just two earned runs with two walks and 15 strikeouts.
He joins some very rare company of pitchers who have 3 games in a single World Series series. Hall of Famers Bob Gibson who won 3 games in the 1967 World Series, Randy Johnson who won 3 games in the 2001 World Series, and Christy Mathewson who won 3 games in the World Series.
Yamamoto stand 5 feet 10 and weighs in at 170 pounds, the same height as the great Japanese Ball player Sadaharu Oh. Even though Yamamoto does not hit like Oh did, in this world series he hit a grand slam! His teammate and fellow country man, Shohei Ohtani, who stands 6 feet 3 is “Godzilla” yet in this series Yamamoto was “King Kong.” As Mr Miyagi in the “The Karate Kid” would say with pride BANZAI!
