Oreste Vilato Marrero Vazquez, was born October 31 1969 in El Barrio Hato Tejas of Bayamon, Puerto Rico. He is a former American Major League baseball player.
Mr. Marrero attended Agustin Stahl High School in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Mr. Marrero was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers as an amateur free agent in 1986 at the age of 16. He made his debut against the Philadelphia Phillies on August 12, 1993. Mr. Marrero was in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization from 1995 – 1997. Mr. Marrero played for the Albuquerque Dukes (AAA), San Antonio Missions (AA), and the Montreal Expos from 1993 – 1994. Mr. Marrero played for the Ottawa Lynx (AAA) and the Harrisburg Senators (AA) and played at all levels from rookie to (AA). Mr. Marrero was also in the Milwaukee Brewers organization as he was signed as a free agent at age 17. from 1997-1992
Mr. Marrero also played in the Independent league as a first baseman outfielder in the Atlantic League From 2000 – 2005 with the Bridgeport Bluefish and Lancaster Barnstormers. Mr. Marrero also played Internationally as a first baseman outfielder in the Puerto Rican Winter league 1987 – 2005. Mr. Marrero also played in Mexican League 1998 – 2000. Mr. Marrero also played in the Taiwan Major league in 1999.
Oreste is the proud owner of the Orestes Marrero Baseball Club in Brooklyn, New York from 2009 to the present. Mr. Marrero has been working with the Long Island Dodgers baseball club since 2009 to the present. Mr. Marrero conducts winter workout clinics and has been the Director of baseball for the Knox school, in Saint James Long Island. Mr. Marrero has also conducted private lessons at baseball plus and at Matt Guiliano’s Play like a Pro. Mr. Marrero Individually trains players in hitting, pitching and fielding and also has conducted private team clinics.
Mr. Marrero has also worked with the lower East side with the Gauchos Baseball League in Brooklyn, N.Y. between 2005- 2007. Mr. Marrero has also been a youth baseball coach for 15 teams and also mentored disadvantage youth. Mr. Marrero assisted in securing scholarships for private high schools and universities.
