NEW YORK BASEBALL
By Ismael Nunez
A lot of gossip and cheer taking place so far in MLB 2022.
Leading off let’s start with my hometown NEW YORK CITY. The New York Yankees rumors have it that Gleyber Torres will be gone, yet after seeing the performance he gave this past May 2nd against the Toronto Blue Jays will it happen. Who knows? Luis Medina-Here’s someone we have not heard much of lately. Here’s what the Baseball website “Fansided” reported “Get out while you still can! Many top Yankees pitching prospects other than Luis Medina have taken lumps throughout the early portions of the 2022 campaign! Miguel Andújar-Had a great rookie season in 2018 hitting 27 HR’s since then injuries, and god knows.”
Another Yankee Joey Gallo might be on the trading block. Not hitting, now injuries. His time in the Bronx might be done. Now starting to get back in the grove let’s see what happens. Now there’s some talk about Aaron Hicks on the trading block? Let’s keep our eyes and ears open.
New York Mets-Robinson Cano has been released. It’s sad, yet when you have a ballplayer not hitting well with men on base, has only 1 HR, what choice do you have. What hurts is Cano has BASEBALL HALL OF FAME numbers yet after being suspended twice and seeing the performance so far it might affect him getting in. Now which teams will be interested? knows.
New York Mets are playing great and everyone seems to be having fun. Yet they still might need a catcher with a bat, and hopefully third Baseman Eduardo Jose Escobar can back on the grove. The team needs to also hit with men in scoring position. This past Sunday they left bases loaded and they fell short of a comeback victory losing 8-7 with Pete Alonso striking out with the bases loaded. It’s still early, so let’s see what happens in NEW YORK, NEW YORK.
