American Spanish Language Baseball Broadcasters
The First Radio broadcast of a baseball game in history took place on August 5th 1921 on KDKA radio, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. On that premier broadcast, the first play-by play announcer was Harold Arlin Buck Canel, the first in the world to broadcast a game in Spanish. These are the voices of the game! play-by-play announcers have been the “eyes” and ears” of fans for years, and today they continue be an essential part of the game of beisbol. The Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame is honored to recognize the distinguished careers of our American Spanish speaking broadcasters.
