MEXICO RED WINS 2026 CARIBBEAN WORLD SERIES
BY ISMAEL NUNEZ
The Charros de Jalisco (Mexico Rojo) won the 2026 Caribbean Series championship, defeating the Tomateros de Culiacán (Mexico Green) 12-11 in an all-Mexico final on February 7, 2026. The Game started with a bang with for team Red. By the 5th inning they had 7 runs batted in, while Green had just one.
The game became like Julio Ceasar Chavez, the boxing champ. Mexico Green would tie up the score 9 to 9 in the top of the 9th and then added another run in the top of the 10 inning and would lead 11-10.
Yet eventually in baseball little things can hurt you. Just like in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series with Bill Buckner’s error when the ball went through his legs, Mickey Owen had a called strike three in the 1941 World Series. It happened in the bottom of the eleventh inning when team Red scored one run to tie 10-10 and then got the bases loaded. Sadly a wild pitch was thrown and the rest is history! Team Red (Mexico Rojo) wins the 2026 Caribbean World Series.

In reality there was no loser here. Both Mexican teams played well. Mexico Green defeated the heavily favored Team Dominican this past Februay 5th 10-7 when they were down at one point by 6 runs going into the 7th inning. Mexico Green defeated team Puerto Rico who is second behind team DR in most Caribbean World Championships. The Dominican Republic has won the most Caribbean Series championships, with a record 23 titles as of 2025. While Puerto Rico has won 16. This year for the first time the Charros de Jalisco (English: Jalisco Horsemen) would win their first championship led by manager Benji Gil. Gil played Major League Baseball for the Texas Rangers and Anaheim Angels, and has also served as coach for the Los Angeles Angels
Now that Gil has won: Will there be any MLB teams calling for a managerial spot? We just have to wait and see.
