REMEBERING FAY VINCENT
by: ISMAEL NUNEZ
Straight from Wikipedia: “Francis Thomas “Fay” Vincent Jr. (May 29, 1938 – February 1, 2025) was an American entertainment lawyer, securities regulator, and sports executive who served as the eighth commissioner of baseball from September 13, 1989, to September 7, 1992.”
What yours truly remembers about Vincent was when he took over as Commissioner of Baseball from Bart Giamatti on September 1, 1989 when Giamatti was stricken with heart attack. Many remember his announcing the banishment of New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.
Vincent handled the job well and with class. He’ll be forever missed.
